Eligible Candidates for Hair Restoration
Ideal candidates for hair transplants set realistic goals to achieve new hair growth, and they are prepared to work with the members of our team of hair restoration experts to turn these goals into reality.
During your virtual consultation, Dr. Thiele will discuss the details of your hair loss concerns and determine your eligibility to receive a hair transplant procedure. If a hair transplantation procedure is not the best option for you, he will offer a different approach to treatment.
Preparation for a Hair Transplant Procedure
During your initial consultation, you’ll receive detailed instructions to help you prepare for a hair transplant procedure. Preparation for hair replacement may come in various forms, depending on which hair restoration technique Dr. Thiele identifies to suit your hair growth needs.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) for Hair Transplants
Collecting healthy hair from a donor site involves a process referred to as follicular unit extraction (FUE). Dr. Thiele performs FUE procedures by extracting individual follicular units, about one to three hair follicles, from an area of vibrant hair growth on the back of the head and moving them to another part of the body where hair is thin or absent.
Topical Solutions for Hair Loss Treatments
If you don’t have as many viable follicles on your donor site as necessary, Dr. Thiele may recommend taking a different approach to hair restoration by offering topical solutions to address hair loss issues. For men, Dr. Thiele may suggest oral finasteride (Propecia), as well as topical minoxidil (Rogaine) for women.
